Periodic verification: are you ready for the news?

For the uninitiated, there are many new features introduced by Ministerial Decree no. 93 last April 21, 2017. This decree introduces important changes regarding the  controls of the measuring instruments including weighing instruments, and repeals previously existing regulations on periodic verification. In that decree(read official journal ) it is specified that the mandatory periodic verifications and repairs to weighing instruments, may be carried out, starting March 19, 2019only and exclusively from laboratories authorized by Unioncamere and have been previously accredited according to the standards ISO 17020 or ISO 17025. In addition, at the time of periodic verification, as of the date from September 18, 2018, it is mandatory to issue a metrology booklet to be kept by the user, who must show it to the Control Authority ( Metrological Office, Annonary Police , Traffic Police, Municipal Police) where all repairs and verifications carried out will be noted. Lack of the metrological booklet, its partial completion and/or completion by non-accredited laboratories will result in  high fines for the user possessing the weighing instrument as well as the prohibition on the use of the instrument itself and the affixing of a red sticker indicating The negative outcome of the verification. Cogo Scales already issues such a booklet during audits conducted by its laboratory and has already applied for accreditation to obtain certification ISO 17025whichwill enable recognition by ACCREDIA ( Italian Accreditation Body https://www.accredia.it/ ) of such a metrology laboratory to carry out not only periodic verification, but also calibrations of instruments and sample masses under the accredited laboratory regime. This condition is especially required by the  automotive industries, from those pharmaceutical chemicals and more. We are therefore ready to address this important change in the regulations as well. And have you already chosen the right accredited verification laboratory for you? Check with us to see if you are in compliance with the new regulations and contact us for more information. #pesiamoilfuturo
